Miche Warwick

Miche started her journey into BC agriculture back in 2008, when she spent 5 summers working on orchards and farms throughout the Okanagan and Kootenay regions. After settling in Rossland in 2012 with her family, she quickly became involved in numerous Kootenay based food organizations. Miche was the manager of the Rossland Mountain Market for nearly seven years, where she led this market to winning the BCAFM’s Small Farmers Market of the Year Award in 2015. In 2018 Miche was awarded the BCAFM Market Manager of the Year Award. Throughout these years Miche also worked for the West Kootenay Permaculture Co-op as the Kootenay Food Communications Liaison. Through this position Miche supported and became connected with many Kootenay based farms, participated in many food and farm conferences and events around the region, and was the writer of the popular Eat Kootenay Local newsletter. In 2017, Miche and her partner Dan started their own diverse market garden farm, Happy Hills Farm, which has won two Business Excellence Awards and continues to grow every year. Together they also run a certified organic indoor MicroFarm, and most recently, Miche and Dan have opened The Rooted Table Collective downtown Rossland where they market their produce, and also support more than 30 other BC based farms. Miche is extremely passionate about not only growing nutritious food for the Kootenay region (and beyond!), but also about supporting other local farms. It is Miche’s belief that we all deserve access to local, good, healthy food and she has dedicated her life here in the Kootenays to making that possible.
