Biography

Nyree has over 20 years of experience as a subsistence and commercial organic farmer. Since moving to the Kootenays in 2005, Nyree has been an active member of the farming community and the owner of a small-scale food processing business. Nyree joined the Basin Business Advisors Program in early 2020 as the Agriculture Specialist. She provides free, one-on-one advisement and workshops for agriculture and food processing businesses located in the Columbia Basin. Nyree considers herself incredibly fortunate to spend her time speaking with food producers in our region.

Meat of the Matter: Presentations and Roundtable for Basin Meat Producers

There’s a compounding number of challenges for meat producers across the BC.  With presentations from industry supports and representatives this session will open with a thorough synopsis of the industry and lead into conversation with meat producers from the Basin.  The dialogue will be facilitated by Julia Smith of the Small Scale Meat Producers Association and is open to all looking to learn and share ideas with the goal of finding opportunities for improvement within the industry.
