Coordinator, Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot


Born & raised in Kimberley, Shannon’s passion for healthy living, creative thinking and community building have led to a diversity of work experiences & education. Ranging from food sustainability, market gardening, herbalism, anthropology and dance, her diverse work background is well-suited to the adaptive nature of food recovery. In her role with Healthy Kimberley as the Food Recovery Depot Coordinator she has prioritized relationship-building and collaboration in the development of food recovery operations and a frozen meal program, in addition to other community-based food initiatives. Outside of work time, she treasures time with family and friends, taking deep breaths in the wilderness & being inspired by the patterns of nature.

Community Food Organization - Presentations and Roundtable

This session will open with two presentations to get the conversation going.  Jessica Chant of Nelson Community Food Centre and Shannon Duncan of Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot will share their experiences getting their food organizations off the ground, through hard times and the opportunities they’ve found in the process. 

Afterwards, the conversation will be facilitated by Melissa Hemphill from Revelstoke.  Come ready to learn and share with the intention of building more resilient food organizations throughout the Basin.
