This year's workshops are going to be super hands-on, designed to go beyond the basics and give you practical tools you can apply directly to your business. Coming prepared means you'll be able to get even more value from every conversation, workshop and networking opportunity.

Here's what we recommend bringing:

• Sell sheets

The wait is over! 🍽️ We're excited to officially announce the details of the 2026 Basin Food & Buyers Expo farm-to-table dinner.

This year's dinner will take place on the evening of Friday, November 6 at Kimberley's iconic @bauernhauskimberley, one of the region's most celebrated dining destinations.

Hosted by Chef Ryan Cain and his team, the dinner will showcase the best of the Kootenays through a family-style feast inspired by Kimberley's Bavarian roots. Guests can expect local and organic produce, house-made breads, pickles, mustards and deli meats, alongside schnitzel and rich, creamy Jäger sauce.

For Chef Ryan, the philosophy behind great food is simple: “Use the best local and organic produce, support local farmers and ranchers, treat their products simply, allow the quality of ingredients to speak for themselves.”

With more than 30 years of culinary experience, including a gold medal at the World Culinary Olympics in Germany, Ryan brings both world-class expertise and a deep appreciation for regional food systems. He has attended previous Basin Food events and values the role we play in supporting local farmers, food producers and small businesses across the Columbia Basin.

🏡 The setting is just as special as the meal. The Old Bauernhaus itself is a 350-year-old Bavarian farmhouse that was carefully dismantled in Germany, shipped to Canada and rebuilt in Kimberley, creating one of the most unique dining experiences in British Columbia.

What happens when food producers, buyers, processors and industry leaders come together in one room? Connections turn into real opportunities. 🌱

Last year's Basin Food & Buyers Expo brought together 372 attendees from across the Columbia Basin, including more than 140 individual buyers representing 76+ brands, but the numbers only tell part of the story.

On average, attendees reported making 4–7 new business connections during the event. For many, those conversations led to new customers, buyer relationships, partnerships and more.

Here's what attendees told us:

This year, the Basin Food & Buyers Expo is heading to Kimberley - a small mountain city with a big food story! ⛰️

Tucked into the East Kootenay, Kimberley is a vibrant small town, with a food culture that punches well above its weight. At one point, the community was home to nearly 40 restaurants! An impressive number for a town its size, and a reflection of the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that defines the local food scene.

From its historic Bavarian roots to its evolving lineup of local eateries, Kimberley blends tradition with innovation. Longtime favourites like the @bauernhauskimberley have kept classic dishes like schnitzel on the table for decades, while newer spots continue to push things forward, serving up everything from locally inspired comfort food to bold, creative menus. 🍎

It’s also a community that understands the connection between food producers, buyers, processors and the people who gather around the table. That makes it a natural fit for a gathering focused on the business of food.
