The 2025 Basin Food Film Festival in Nelson, BC, isn’t just about watching movies — it’s about gathering together to eat, think, laugh, and celebrate the many ways food shapes our lives. For a few delicious days, we’ll serve up a feast of documentary films, conversations, and tastings that spark both your appetite and your imagination.
This year’s menu of events is as diverse and tasty as the Columbia Basin itself. From film premieres to sweet local indulgences, from short films to big ideas, every event offers a chance to connect with food, drink and community.
The three days of events are curated by well-known Nelson food journalist Jon Steinman who was behind the popular Deconstructing Dinner Film Festival between 2012-2017.
HERE’S WHATS COOKING:
“Documentary films have the power to disrupt the stories we tell ourselves and open space for new and wider perspectives. They remind us of our compassion, our shared humanity, and they provide the inspiration required to chart a more intentional and meaning-filled future. I’m truly amazed by the filmmakers represented in this year’s festival and by the dedication of the people whose stories they tell. I invite you to join me to be moved and to be motivated into a resilient food future for the Columbia Basin.”
