ever Basin Food Film Festival?! It truly was an exceptional addition to the Basin Food Summit & Expo which took place at Selkirk College in Nelson from November 6-8, 2025.

We were thrilled at how many people turned out to check out 26 films, 18 panelists, a tea ceremony, local dessert showcase, local meat panel, the Brine & Dine Party at Spiritbar and so much more!

It was a true celebration of local food and learning about the food systems that support us both locally and internationally.

Join the Canadian premiere of The Jungle, a documentary that pulls back the curtain on food supply chains, exposing the forces shaping the meat industry while highlighting Indigenous knowledge and farmer-led alternatives. Praised by food journalist Jon Steinman as “one of the clearest examinations to date of the architecture of our food supply,” the film sets the stage for Meat Matters, a meaty discussion with regional farmers and meat experts you won’t want to miss.

Speaker Spotlight: Amanda Goodman Lee 🍯 At this year’s Basin Food Summit & Expo (November 6–8 in Nelson, BC), we’re buzzing with excitement to welcome Amanda Goodman Lee, Queen Bee and Co-Owner of @honeybeezen Apiaries - producers of award-winning, sustainably crafted honeys from the Kootenays.

Amanda’s passion for beekeeping began with a daring “beard of bees” experience in 2010, a spark that blossomed into a thriving business and lifelong calling.
