STRENGTHENING SCHOOL FOOD AT THE BASIN FOOD SUMMIT
CALLING ALL SCHOOL FOOD BUYERS!
This year, the Basin Food Summit is putting school food in the spotlight with dedicated programming and
engagement designed for you. Feed BC is a provincial program run by Ministry of Agriculture and Food that is
supporting Feeding Futures to bring more B.C. foods into K-12 schools. They have an aspirational goal of getting
30% BC food into school lunches. It’s a big step forward for healthier meals, stronger communities, and more local
food on students’ plates.
At the Summit, you’ll:
• Meet local producers and organizations preparing to supply schools with fresh, Columbia Basin food
• Hear from school food coordinators and program leaders shaping programs across the region
• Explore how stronger local school food systems can bene t kids, families, and communities
• Discover practical tools, partnerships, and supply options to make local food work in your school
• Together, we can grow a school food system that nourishes students and strengthens our
communities.
📅 Join us Friday November 7th, 9:30-5 pm in Nelson, BC
for conversations, connections, a seasonal local lunch and much more.
*Travel bursaries are available on a fist come first serve basis.
Bursary value is at rate based on the school district you work in ($25-$100)
