A couple of weeks ago, the core organizing team behind the Basin Food Summit (FABx25) gathered to kick off planning—and let’s just say, the buzz was real. 🐝🧠 Shauna & Damon (our lead event organizers), Christine (our Nelson Community liaison) , Karen (our social media wizard) and Jon (our film festival coordinator) were excited to meet up in Nelson, where this year’s event will take place!

Led by our fearless FABx co-founder Shauna, we kicked things off with a visioning exercise—each of us jotting down our BIG ideas for this year’s event. We gathered on the @beautiesnelson patio where ideas bloomed, conversations buzzed and the first threads of FABx25 began to take shape.

We laughed. We got fired up. And true to our 2025 theme of pollination, ideas jumped from person to person—sparking something beautiful in the making.

From the essential role bees and other pollinators play in thriving, resilient food systems, to the ripple effects of clean, pollinator-friendly agriculture, we’re shining a light on how healthy ecosystems support healthy communities.

The Basin Food Summit (FABx) isn’t just about food—it’s about strengthening communities, supporting local economies and cultivating connection.

Since then, FABx has grown in size, scope and impact, and returning to Nelson feels like a full-circle moment.

With its thriving food scene, passionate and informed consumers, vibrant farmers’ market, and a community that deeply values food culture and events, Nelson is the perfect place to celebrate how far we’ve come.

We’ve also changed our dates to November 6-8 this year instead of October. This means our beloved event aligns beautifully with Burger Month, allowing us to spotlight local restaurants and share the love with our own community through delicious partnerships and public programming.
